I have thoroughly enjoyed my stay in Japan. I wish I had more time, but unfortunately I do not. The highlight of the trip for me has been the home stay, and the visit to the school. It has boosted my Japanese skills significantly, mainly listening. Moreover I was able to learn a bit of the Western dialect that sounds different and has different variations than the Japanese we learn at school. I did not think this would be the case as Japan is such a small country. Nevertheless I was able to enrich my Japanese, and more importantly fully be in Japanese society and learn some of the culture. Talking with my host family gave me insight to a pat of Japan and its everyday life. The commute on my way back from school would be around two hours which would give me time to talk with my host sister and see the countryside of Kyoto. In school, it was very fun to interact with all the grades and take all kinds of classes with a variety of activities. Furthermore Kyoto is a beautiful city with many sites to see and enjoy.
